My name is Patricia Pataki. I am a qualified, BACP registered counsellor offering short and long-term counselling for adults.
I have particular experience in working with anxiety (panic disorder, GAD, OCD, phobias), low-self esteem and trauma (such as childhood neglect and abuse), but I am equipped to work with any issue you may wish to bring to therapy.
Based on my work experience, I have specialized knowledge in the field of addiction.
I also used to volunteer at a local LGBT centre so I have an understanding of sexual diversity including gender.
I am integrative which means that I integrate multiple therapeutic approaches (mainly humanistic, CBT and psychodynamic) during my work.
Due to my knowledge in CBT I can offer safe and effective techniques to deal with low mood and anxiety. CBT is an approach that focuses on the present instead of dwelling in the past. It is a practical way of alleviating stress in our everyday lives.
I believe that the relationship between client and counsellor (the therapeutic relationship) is the strongest healing force within therapy, so I will take earning and preserving your trust very seriously. I will always listen to you and I will help you sort through your thoughts and feelings, to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and life in general.
Areas of expertise (client groups): Addictions, LGBT people, sexual violence and abuse.
