My name is Esha. I am a qualified counsellor with over 18 years’ experience working with children, young people and adults, including 14 years’ with Barnardo’s Amazon Counselling Service for Children & Young People.
I work with people of all ages from 4 years and up, offering a safe creative space for children and young people to explore and express their feelings around their emotional wellbeing, helping them to gain a healthy sense of self. I use a range of therapeutic tools, particularly valuable for school-based counselling, to help improve emotional resilience, build confidence, self-esteem and develop healthy attitudes towards challenging behaviours such as self-harming, suicidal thoughts, anxieties around body image, mood swings and anger. I offer support to help young people deal more effectively with issues and challenges, such as friendships, relationships, peer pressure, stress, bullying, identity, and exam pressures. I also offer counselling to children, young people, parents and carers who have been affected by sexual abuse.
Sessions are available on a one-to-one basis or in small groups. I additionally deliver ‘keep safe’ sessions to primary-aged children, to help them become aware of their bodies and to learn how to help keep themselves safe and I also offer parenting sessions.
I work in a fun, creative way and am Gestalt trained. Since I don’t believe that one counselling approach fits all, my style is integrative, using whichever therapeutic approach best suits each person’s needs.
