Shirley Patterson

Hello, my name is Shirley Patterson. I am a qualified counsellor, BACP (British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists).

Sometimes we find it difficult to tell others our problems and this might be down to whether you can trust them or will they understand me. If you feel it is the time now to do something about your problems; then I am here with a listening ear. I do one to one work with clients and practice person-centred counselling.

My approach is to offer you a safe environment, so I can explore your problems. I will not judge you, but show you respect and give you the time to talk while I listen and check to see if I have heard your feelings.

I believe that the process of life can affect us all, but it is the way how you cope and manage these problems when they arise that places more stress on us especially when you have been hit with one life event/crisis follow by another. Sometimes you try to find out why these things are happening to you and cannot see a way forward and become stuck.

Person-Centred counselling gives you the choice to reflect and explore any problems you have unconditionally. I will help you to find your solution to how you can best manage or cope when your problems arise again. The client group I work with are young people and adults.

I work with people from different ethnic background experiencing stress, depression and anxiety, low self-esteem, work and relationship issues, financial problems, domestic abuse, sleep and anger issues, bereavement and sexuality.

Fee: My fee is £45, concessionary fees may be available

Availability: I work from 8.30 am to 7pm Wednesday, Thursday and saturday.

Sessions are 50 minutes
