Gestalt therapy is an evidence-based approach which prioritises a one-to-one relationship aiding growth and development. Change happens only in the present and therefore Gestalt therapy highlights the here-and-now, the current situation between therapist and client. It works to support awareness, placing your experience, and truths at the centre of therapy rather than imposing one person’s reality onto the other.
I work with the whole person, including the context of your life, exploring the background and repeating patterns as well as whatever is causing difficulty now. I offer a holistic approach – acknowledging that what may seem like isolated symptoms often reflect broader difficulties in our lives. Therapy sessions include talking but sometimes also creativity with artwork, objects and movement. Gestalt is suitable for working with all types of difficulty including abuse, trauma, loss, anxiety and depression.
About Me and How I Work
I am a UKCP Registered Gestalt Psychotherapist and BACP Accredited Counsellor with 20 years’ experience of working therapeutically with adults in various settings. These have included managing counselling services in schools, the NHS and Higher Education. I currently manage the Counselling & Mental Health Team at University of Worcester.
I offer both short and longer-term counselling/psychotherapy to individual adults. I have worked successfully with a range of issues that may cause anxiety and depression, stress and panic attacks, including trauma and relationship difficulties.
Supervision is available both individually and in groups for qualified and trainee counsellors/psychotherapists as well as others in the helping professions.
Bespoke training and consultancy to groups and teams is also available.
