I wonder what brings you here today?
The challenges we each face in life are as individual as we are. We might turn to counselling when we feel lost or in pain, and our usual ways of coping aren’t enough. It can sometimes be hard to share difficult feelings and experiences with the people in our lives. At the moment, we are all also being cut off in different ways from the people and places that matter to us. At times like this, counselling offers a safe, private and supportive space, in which you can share what is happening in your life, and find the help you need to get through it.
My aim as a counsellor is to offer you a sensitive, understanding and thoughtful relationship. During sessions we will explore together whatever it is that is hurting or puzzling you, understand how it came to be, and why it has been difficult to get past it. We might talk about what is happening in the here-and-now of your life, or focus on important relationships and experiences from your past, and weave these together to create new understanding. My experience is that this kind of work can help to relieve pain, and also lead to new insight and personal growth.
Our first meeting is an opportunity for you to find out how it would feel to work with me, and to decide whether you would like to continue. I charge £10 for this first session, and then my usual hourly fee is £40. I do have a limited number of sessions available at £25 for people on a lower income – please let me know if this applies to you. I offer both open-ended and fixed-term counselling, depending on your needs and circumstances, and can work either remotely (via Zoom or phone) or face-to-face, depending on covid-19 restrictions and your needs at the time.
I am a fully qualified counsellor and a member of BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy), and in the final stages of advanced training as a psychotherapist.
